This week we're shining the Celebrate Local family spotlight on the Elida Candle Company in Elida, Ohio!

What's the story behind your business, and how did you get started?

My husband and I started this business in 2011. We wanted to take what started out as a hobby and a love for clean burning soy candles to a thriving business. We started out at local craft shows with just eight fragrances and a couple styles of candles. We now have more than 150 fragrances to choose from and a full line of high quality, home fragrance products to make your space smell perfect. You can find our products in 27 local stores and on our web site.

What makes your products unique?

We are committed to providing high quality products that are long lasting and natural. Each of our candles are hand poured with great care using pure soy wax and are scented to perfection from top to bottom. Customer service and ensuring 100% satisfaction with Elida Candle Company is of the utmost importance. We want our customers to have an excellent experience with our company and be completely satisfied. 5% of our profits go to charity as we feel strongly about giving back to our community. We donate to "Meals 'til Monday, a local charity that provides nutritional kid-friendly weekend meals for children whose primary source of food is the school cafeteria. We also donate to the West Ohio Food Bank and the arts departments of our local school district.

Being part of the Celebrate Local family has been such a positive experience and asset to our company. They have provided invaluable advice from labeling our product, to marketing our products, networking and more. They are always so helpful and always looking for a way to help all of the vendors be as successful as they can be.
